Luke Chen serves as a committer and Project Management Committer (PMC) member for Apache Kafka. He has contributed to Apache Kafka and its broader ecosystem since 2020. Currently, he is employed as a software engineer at IBM, where his responsibilities include developing features and resolving issues within the Kafka ecosystem.

Luke Chen is a significant contributor to the Apache Kafka community. He has made numerous code contributions, actively participates in code reviews and KIP discussions, and answers user questions. His expertise is further demonstrated by his presentation at Current Bengaluru 2025 and several published blog posts on Apache Kafka. Additionally, Luke was instrumental in coordinating the investigation, analysis, discussion, resolution, and publication of information for three Apache Kafka CVEs.
