Tom is a long time enthusiast of Kafka and all things data integration, he has more than 15yrs experience in innovative and efficient ways to store, query and move data. Tom is currently CEO at Streambased a company focused on unifying operational and analytical data estates into a single, consistent and efficient data layer.

He has a passion for collaborating and sharing advancements in the fields of data management, event streaming and fast batch query execution. You'll find him presenting at meetups, events and webinars across the UK, Europe and the US on the topic of Kafka/Iceberg and distributed systems in general.

When not talking you'll find him writing. He maintains a substack and a series of LinkedIn posts that alternate between introductions to gotchas in the data world and deep dives into his and others theories on where the future will lead.
